How can you consciously finalise your work?
A ‘last week before holiday list’ can help. Make a note of what needs to be done before your holiday so as not to jeopardise goals and projects, and what organisational matters need to be taken into account.
Mini holiday offboarding:
- Create a cover plan: Inform your line manager who will be taking over your duties and who can be contacted if you have any questions. Make sure the replacement has everything they need
.
- Absence notification: Send an all-day invitation to all important contacts with the note ‘[Your name] – not available’. This way, everyone knows when you are unavailable and can clarify important issues beforehand.
- Advance notice for meetings: Inform meeting leaders about your absence and offer to bring meetings forward or record them.
- Reminder for substitutes: Remind colleagues and customers who they can contact during your absence and pass on their contact details.
- Final reminder: One week before your holiday, send a final email to superiors, team members and customers with your absence details and the replacement. Emphasise that you will not respond to emails or calls.
